Liu was a two-time All-American and four-time All-MIAA performer for the Emporia State volleyball team. She was the MIAA Player of the Year and a first-team AVCA All-American as a sophomore in 2008 while earning first-team All-MIAA and honorable mention All-American honors in 2010.  She is the ESU and MIAA record holder with 6,126 career assists and has the ESU single season record with 1,792 assists in 2007 when she earned MIAA Freshman of the Year honors. ESU made the NCAA Tournament all four years of her career, winning the MIAA Championship and advancing to the regional title game in White Auditorium in 2009.
