Stanbrough was a four year letterwinner in cross country and track &?field for ESU.  He qualified for the NAIA?National championships in the 800m in 1977, placing eighth.  He is currently ranked third all-time at ESU?in the 800m. He was ESU?head cross country/track coach from 1984-92 and coached Hornets to 70 NAIA?All-American honors and 11 individual national championships. Stanbrough was named Kansas High School cross country coach of the year in 2003.
