Nelson was a four year player for the Hornets. He scored 640 points on 48.1% shooting in his 98 game career. He was the Hornets Defensive Player of the Year all four years at ESU. Nelson has moved on to become one of the most successful high school girls basketball coaches in the state of Kansas. Entering the 2003-04 season he is 518-84 at Olpe High School and his 1981 undefeated state champion Olpe Eagles were recently inducted into the KBCA Hall of Fame. He has won over 700 games at the high school and junior high level in his career.
