Cerone played two seasons for the Hornets from 1968 to 1969.  A native of Hicksville, NY, he is the NCAA?II all-time leader in touchdown receptions with 49 and ranks among NCAA?single-season and career leaders in receptions, yards and touchdowns.  As a senior, he caught 77 passes for 1,315 yards and 13 touchdowns.  During his career at ESU, he led the nation in receiving with a national record 164.3 yards per game in 1968 and 146.1 yards per game in 1969. He was a two-time, first-team AP, NCAA and NAIA All-American.  In addition, he was an All-NAIA?District 10 performer and All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pick. He is the ESU career, season and game leader in receiving yards and TD?receptions.  He came to ESU after attending Yankton College.
