Delmott was a cross country NAIA All-American in 1968 and 1969, placing 12th nationally in 1968 and ninth in 1969. He has held the ESU outdoor record in 10,000m for over 30 years. He finished in top 25 at the 1976 U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon. He was a member of the All-Marine Corps track and field team in 1972 and 1973. He retired from the Marines as a Lt. Colonel and is a member of the Emporia Police Department. He  had top three finishes at the 1985 World Police &?Fire Games in the 10K cross country, half marathon, 10,000m and 5,000m. Delmott coached cross country and track at ESU from 1978-79.
