Minnis played football at ESU and never had a losing season during his four year career. As a coach he won over 800 college and high school baseball games in 45 years.  He was among the top 15 active NCAA Division II coaches with 681 collegiate wins when he retired.  Minnis was named to NAIA Hall of Fame in 1989 and the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1990.  He has coached several USA Teams in international competition.-
