Joyce Burnett was a three-time All-American that won the national championship in the javelin in 1997. Her mark of 167-00 in the old javelin is an ESU?record by over 16 feet and is the 11th best in NCAA Division II history.  She was the first and at the time of induction the only three-time javelin?champion in MIAA history. She was also played for the Lady Hornet basketball team as a freshman before concentrating on track & field.
