A middle distance runner for the Hornets, Hutchinson was a member of several record setting relay teams.  He was part of the sprint medley relay that won at the 1955 Drake Relays with a time of 3:21.9 that was one of the top ten times ever recorded at the time. He went on to a successful career in the construction industry and played a key part in the construction of the Hutchinson Family Pavilion at Welch Stadium.
