Bob Janesko was a member of the Emporia State University football team from 1967 to 1970 and set nearly every major passing mark in the Hornet record book upon graduation. As a junior, he led the Hornets to a 6-3 record as the starting quarterback and set school records for most passing yards in a season with 1,893, completions with 120, and attempts with 279. He set a school record with 35 career touchdown passes, including five in a game against Peru State. He led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in total offense in 1969 with 231.9 yards per game, passing yards per game (237) and touchdown passes per game (2). Perhaps the best game of his career came against Pittsburg State when he threw for a school and RMAC record 473 yards. During that game, he connected on the longest play from scrimmage ever at ESU when he hit Frank Stankiewicz on a 99-yard touchdown pass.
