Volkens earned 2nd-team Daktronics All-American honors as a senior in 2011 after leading the Lady Hornets to the 2010 National Championship as a junior. She was the Most Outstanding Player at the 2010 Elite Eight averaging 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game during the three games in St. Joseph, Mo. She would average 18.3 points and 12.6 rebounds per game as a senior. She set an MIAA tournament record with 47 rebounds and her 73 points ranked third at the time as she led ESU to the MIAA Championship game for the second time in three years. She finished her career ranked  14th in career scoring at ESU with 1,360 points, fourth with 894 career rebounds, and second with 216 blocked shots.
