Zaletel was named the Outstanding Senior at Emporia State in 1983 as well as earning ESU Student Athlete of the Year honors. She was a top-five finalist for A.O. Duer Award as the most outstanding student-athlete in the NAIA. She led the Hornet gymnastics team in scoring all four years and set school records in the vault, floor exercise, uneven bars and all around competitions. She advanced to the national meet on two occasions. She was a first-team CSIC, NAIA?and CoSIDA?Academic All-American in the classroom. Following graduation she coached and judged high school gymnastics before returning to ESU to work in University Relations. She carried the 1996 Olympic Torch in Emporia as a one of 13 Community Heroes and is currently the Executive Director of External Affairs for Colorado State University-Pueblo.
