Dontaye McCoy was a three-time All-American at safety for the Hornet football team.  He was the first Hornet to earn at least second-team All-MIAA honors in each of his four years. The Wichita, Kan. native was named to an unprecedented five All-American teams his senior year. He was a first-team AP Little All-American, AFCA All-American, CoSIDA Daktronics All-American, Football Gazette All-American, and D2Football.com All-American. He was a second-team Daktronics All-American as a sophomore and junior. A two-time Emporia State Male Student-Athlete of the Year, he led the Hornets to the 2002 Mineral Water Bowl Championship.  He graduated ranked fourth in career tackles and second in career interceptions at Emporia State.
