Jerome Carroll was a two-sport standout from 1931-35, competing in basketball and track & field. While winning four letters in basketball, he was named to the all-conference team each year. In the three seasons following his freshman year, he led the conference in scoring and was a first-team all-conference pick. His final two seasons he was named to the all-state team and was selected the captain of the team both years. He also captained the all-conference teams those two seasons. His career scoring record of 896 points stood for 21 years before being broken in 1956. He also was a standout on the Emporia State University team in 1933-34 that had a 17-1 record. He lettered two years in track & field and competed in the hurdles.
