Hall of Fame
Roy Lane was one of the finest "true athletes" to participate in football at ESU. He was a standout kicker and fullback for the football team at ESU from 1924-26. He earned conference and all-state honors at both positions. Lane’s athletic ability is documented by the fact that he was selected to both Fran Welch’s "All-Time Dream Team" and Roy Hargiss’ All-Star Team as both a kicker and fullback. He was a key player on ESU’s 1926 undefeated team, converting on two field goals in the final game of the year against arch-rival College of Emporia. ESU won that game, 6-0, and the 1926 team kept its record perfect, finishing the year at 7-0.
