April 14, 2023-Emporia State advanced to Saturday in five events, had five top eight finishes in finals and an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark on Friday during the 100
th Anniversary edition of the KU Relays. Due to inclement weather in Lawrence the 4x400m relays have been moved to Saturday and will be run as timed final.

Abigael Reid won her heat of the women's 400m hurdles in a provisional qualifying time of 1:02.29. It was the second best time in the prelims as she qualified for the finals.

Jasmine Hurla had the fourth best time in the women's 400m at 58.32 and anchored the 4x100m relay team to a time of 48.76 to also advance to Saturday's finals. She was joined on the relay team by
Kadaisha Mpwo,
Lauren Carlson, layand
Ashley Wildeman.

The Emporia State men's 4x100m relay also qualified for the finals.
Kingsley Bennett,
Carter Cox,
Jack Watson, and
Isaac Tarango turned in a time of 41.21 to sit in sixth headed to Saturday.

Chase Rooney is the final qualifier for Saturday's final. His time of 54.37 earned him the final spot in the finals for the men's 400m hurdles.

The foursome of
Luke Gleason,
Jake Johnson,
Brice Helton, and
Tyler Swift had the best finish in a final for Emporia State on Friday. They ran 10:47.55 to place third in the men's distance medley relay.

Megan McManis placed fourth in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.72m (12-2.25) for the women's best finish in a final on Friday.

Holly Brockmeier and
Bonnie Romig both fnished in the top eight of the women's javelin. Brockmeier threw 39.71m (130-3) to place fifth while Romig went 38.49m (126-3) to finish in seventh place.

Emma Seidl had the other top eight finish for Emporia State. She went 13.18m (43-3) to place sixth in the women's shot put.
Â
Emporia State will return to Rock Chalk Park on Saturday for the final day of the 100
th anniversary edition of the Kansas Relays.
