April 10, 2021-Emporia State had two event championships, a runner-up and 12 top four finishes with two provisional qualifiers at the Wichita State Open on Saturday.

Two Emporia State women's throwers hit provisional qualifying marks.Â
Alyssa Conway continued to move up on the Hornets all-time list in the women's hammer. She became just the third woman to go over 180 feet in the hammer as she threw 184-4 (56.18m) to place fourth. She is ranked fifth in the nation as of Saturday night.

Holly Brockmeier provisionalled in the women's javelin with a toss of 143-0 (43.58m) that ranks 23
rd in the nation.

Megan McManis cleared 12-00.0 (3.66m) to win the women's pole vault while
Allie Barrett went over 11-00.25 (3.36m) to finish third.

Jazmin Williams finished third with a leap of 18-05.25 (5.62m) in the long jump.

The 4x400m relay team of
Jasmine Hurla,
Makenzie Owings,
Hollie Marlow, and
Kynzie Underwood had the top finish on the track for Emporia State, running 4:07.86 to place fourth.

The foursome of
Carter Cox,
Brandon Rhone,
Guy Ramos, and
Juwan Johnson ran 3:16.52 win the 4x400m relay and give the Emporia State men their lone win on the track.

Jphnson placed second with a time of 21.58 in the 200m for the top individual finish for the Hornet men.

The Emporia State men had four fourth place finishes.Â
Hayden Goodpaster placed fourth in 48.84 in the 400m,
Sam Hengeli was clocked in 15:12.91 to finish fourth in the 5000m,
Xavier Hall was fourth in the 110m hurdles in 14.99 while
Chase Rooney ran 55.62 to place fourth in the 400m hurdles.

The Hornets will return to Witten Track/Welch Stadium on Saturday to play host to the Midwest Classic. Runnign events will begin at 9:30 a.m. with field events beginning at 11:30 a.m.
