April 9, 2026-It was a case of another day, another school record for Emporia State's Stella Agbokpah during the evening session of the Jo Meaker Classic on Thursday in Canyon, Texas.
 
Agbokpah shattered her own school record in the 200m, running 23.07 to finish third at the West Texas A&M Track Complex.  She bested her own record of 23.75 set last week at the ESU Midwest Classic.  Barbara Bentum also had a personal record running 23.87 to rank third all-time at Emporia State. She finished ninth on Thursday.
 
Israel Domeh edged out Ezekiel Seamster in the men's 200m with both men recording a 21.02. Domeh was given the edge and finished seventh with Seamster in eighth. Alden Mollerus ran a personal best of 21.30 to place 17th while Emmanuel Dukpe was clocked in 21.44 to finish in 20th place.
 
The Emporia State multi-event athletes had a strong first day at the Jo Meaker Classic.
 
Isabella Davie is in third place in the women's heptathlon with 3,008 points after day one at West Texas A&M. She started the day with a personal best of 15.06 in the 100m hurdles and followed it with another personal best of 1.63m (5-04.25) for a second place showing in the high jump. She finished third in the shot put with a mark of 11.05m (36-03.00) before ending the day just .01 seconds off of her career best with a time of 25.91 in the 200m. She is one of just three women over 3000 points on the first day of competition.
 
Luke Grace is in fifth place with 3,892 points in the men's decathlon after day one.  He also started the competition with a PR as he ran 10.90 in the 100m.  He had the third best long jump at 7.17m (23-06.25) before he set another personal best with a mark of 11.91m (39-01.00) in the shot put.  He cleared 2.00m (6-06.75) to finish second in the high jump and ended day one running 51.08 in the 400m.
 
Davie and Grace will wrap up the multi-events at West Texas on Friday and will be joined by a small group of sprinters and jumpers.  The rest of the Hornets will begin competition at the Grizzly Gold Invitational hosted by Butler CC in El Dorado, Kan. on Friday.
