March 27, 2026-Emporia State had one school record, three event champions, six runners up, and eight provisional marks at the ESU Spring Open on Friday at Witten Track and Welch Stadium.

Stella Agbokpah tied a school record, won an event and had two provisional qualifiers for the Emporia State women. She finished third and tied Latiyera Yeargin's school record, set at the 2018 Sam Williams Qualifier, with a provisional time of 11.63 in the 100m. She won the 200m in a provisional qualifying time of 24.02 that ranks third all-time at Emporia State.

Barbara Bentum ran the third best time in Emporia State history in the 100m with a time of 11.71 to finish fourth. She also placed second in the 200m with a time of 24.41.

Agbokpah and Bentum were joined by
Mackenzie Sauerwein and
Alexia Lewis in the 4x100m relay as they ran 47.04 to finish second.

Brooklyn Nolte had the other runner-up finish for the Emporia State women as she ran 18:59.41 to place second in the 5000m.

Ezekiel Seamster had two provisional marks and an event championship to lead the Emporia State men on the track. He ran a PQ of 21.07 to win the men's 200m. He turned in the fourth best time in ESU history with a 10.29 to finish fourth in the 100m. He teamed with
Andrew Holton,
Brock Keith,
Braden Lipgens to run 3:19.09 and finish second in the 4x400m relay.

Brooks Lowe finished second in the men's javelin with a provisional qualifying mark of 63.67m (208-10) on his final throw.

Max Neeley cleared a provisional qualifying bar of 4.95m (16-02.75) to place third in the pole vault.

Connor Deters had the other provisional mark for the Emporia State men. His mark of 17.20m (56-05.25) ranks fifth all-time at ESU and was good for fifth in the day's competition. Â

Dylan Hunter wrapped up the day with a win in the 10,000m. His time of 30:33.44 is the second best 10K in Emporia State history,

Israel Domeh finished second in the 200m with a time of 21.07.

UP NEXT
The Hornets will continue their homestand of meets when they play host to the Midwest Classic on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4 at Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track.

There was one stadium record set as Kade McCall competing unattached went 72.30m (237-02) to break Chris Cralle of Shocker Track Club's previous mark of 72.19m (236-10) set at the 2014 ESU Relays.
