Alyssa Conway unleashed the best throw in the nation in the women's hammer to highlight day two of the ESU Relays for Emporia State on Friday. She had one of the two provisional qualifiers on the day with
Abigael Reid posting a provisional mark in the heptathlon.

Conway fouled on her first attempt of the day and then hit a provisional mark of 52.93m (173-8) on her second toss. She then threw 55.82m (183-1) on her third attempt to take the lead for good. After two more fouls she finished her series with another provisional mark of 52.53m (172-4) on her final throw.

Reid finished the two day heptathlon with a provisional qualifying total of 4,712 points to place third overall. Her point total was ranked third in the nation on Friday night. She started the day with fifth place showings in the first two events. She long jumped 5.33m and then went 30.17m in the javelin. She finished the day running 2:24.45 to place third in the final event the 800m.Â
Victoria Pettay joined her in the scoring of the multi-events, tying her career best with 3,982 points to place eighth.

Aren Trost had the best finish for the Emporia State men placing second in the decathlon. After recording personal bests in four of five events on Thursday, he started day two with another PR running 15.60 in the 110m hurdles. He then placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 23.86m before bouncing back to win the pole vault by clearing 3.90m. He was third in the javelin with a throw of 41.78m to maintain his third-place overall finish. He ran 4:49.46 in the 1500m to place second in the 1500m and move up to second in the overall standings.

The Hornet men scored in four finals events on Friday. Â
Asher Moen placed fourth and
Cody Achilles was fifth in the 3000m steeplechase.Â
Carter Cox ran a personal best of 21.75 to place fourth in the 200m.
Zach Sulzen-Watson was fifth with a throw of 48.90 (160-5) in the discus.Â
Jaime Diaz ran 14:52.97 to place eighth in the 5000m and pick up another point for the Hornets.

Lauren Carlson finished third in the women's 200m with a personal best time of 24.76 and was joined in the scoring column by
Jasmine Hurla with a time of 25.46 to place eighth.

In the non-scoring events on Friday
Taylor Milleson won the women's open shot put with a mark of 12.26m (40-2.75) the men earned a pair of runner-up finishes.Â
Luke Grace cleared 1.90m (6-2.75) in the high jump while
Josiah Huber went over 4.00m (13-1.50) in the pole vault.

The final day of competition at the ESU Relays will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the field events while action on the track gets underway at 12:00 p.m.
