SENIOR WEEKEND
Emporia State plays their final three home games of the 2021 regular season, as they play host to Fort Hays State at Trusler.

LAST AT BAT
Emporia State had the tying run thrown out at the plate in an 8-7 loss at Northeastern State on Monday afternoon. With two outs Ryan Krowlikowski delivered a pinch hit base hit down the right field line. Christian Roduner scored easily but Noah Geekie was thrown out trying to score from first to end the game.

THE COACHES
Seth Wheeler is 52-51 in his third season as the Hornets head coach. He is 2-1 against Fort Hays State.
Jerod Goodale is 23-75 in his third year as head coach of the Tigers and 203-235 in his tenth year as a head coach. He is 1-2 against Emporia State at FHSU and 1-3 overall.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

Fort Hays State is 9-22 overall with a 9-18 mark in MIAA play. As a team, the Tigers have a .270 batting average, an 8.68 staff ERA, and .959 team fielding percentage. Jacob Enz is fourth in the MIAA with saves in five of the Tigers nine wins.

LAST AT BAT AGAINST FORT HAYS STATE
Emporia State completed a 2-1 series win over Fort Hays State with a 12-4 game three win at Trusler. After trailing 2-0 to the Tigers through two innings, the Hornets batted around and scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead. The Tigers answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and the Hornets led 5-4 after four complete. The Hornets would score five runs on three hits and one Tigers error to extend their lead to 10-4 in the top of the sixth. Holding the Tigers scoreless over the last five innings, the Hornets capped off the scoring with two runs in the top of the ninth to take the 12-4 win over the Tigers. The Hornets had 12 hits with 11 RBI led by Connor Hurst with two runs on three hits including two home runs with five RBI. Adam Thies got the win, pitching 1.0 innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits with two strikeouts while Drew Scrimsher had seven strikeouts in 3.2 scoreless innings.

The Hornets wrap up the regular season at Pittsburg State May 7-8. First pitch of the three game series is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday night in Pittsburg, Kan.
