Grant Huffman and
Logan Myers were named MIAA Scholar Athletes while
Gus Keller was an Academic Excellence Award winner to highlight a total of 20 Emporia State baseball players that were recognized by the conference for the academic accomplishments.
Huffman earned First-Team All-MIAA honors as a relief pitcher. He anchored the Hornet bullpen with a 2.10 ERA and 0.96 WHIP along with eight saves in eight opportunities. Myers was a unanimous First Team All-MIAA selection at second base. He posted a .408 batting average, while tallying 21 doubles, 39 RBI, 70 runs and a .548 OBP from the leadoff spot this season.
A Scholar-Athlete must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution. Student-athletes must also receive All-MIAA honors in the 2026 season to achieve the full Scholar-Athlete status.
Keller was an Academic Excellence Award winner with a 4.00 GPA in business.
An Academic Excellence award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
A total of 20 returners were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for Emporia State.
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
These academic awards do not include first-year freshmen or first-year transfers. The MIAA will release its Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2025-26 academic year later this month.
