July 22, 2026-The Emporia State baseball team was awarded the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack for their efforts in the class room last year.
 
This award recognizes ABCA member teams from all levels of high school and collegiate baseball that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year.
 
The 38 Hornets on the roster in 2026 had a combined 3.53 GPA in the spring semester. A total of 18 Hornets have maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA in their collegiate careers.
 
Emporia State was one of six MIAA schools to earn an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award this year.
 
In Coach John Martin's first season back at his alma mater, Emporia State went 37-16 on the season, 22-14 in the MIAA and advanced to the MIAA Tournament Championship Game for the first time since 2018.
