TAKING CONTROL EARLY
The Hornets capitalized on a Lion throwing error in the bottom of the first, scoring Levi Ashmore to go up 1-0. Two batters later, Mason Brown reached on a fielder's choice to score Alex White and give Emporia State a 2-0 lead. The game was scoreless through the next two innings before the Hornets plated another run in the bottom of the fourth, extending their lead 3-0.

CLOSE GAME, PULL AWAY
Lindenwood put themselves back in the game, scoring two runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning, Emporia State leading 3-2 after the top half of the inning. The Hornets did not let that last long, as they scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead. Emporia State plated another two runs in the eighth on a Taylor Sanagorksi double down the first base line. The Lions scored a run in the ninth to finish the game 7-3, a Hornet win.
