February 7, 2026-Emporia State had seven provisional qualifiers including a school record on Saturday at the Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Mo. The Hornets had a total of five top three finishes and three new ESU top five marks.

Stella Agbokpah had the highlight of the day for the Emporia State women. She broke her own school record with a time of 24.06 to place second in the Invitational 200m. It is the top time in the MIAA and ranked sixth in the nation as of Saturday evening. She added another provisional time in the prelims of the 60m. She ran 7.63 to tie her own second best mark in ESU history before finishing sixth with a time of 7.66 in the finals.

The open 200m was good for the Emporia State women as well.Â
Barbara Bentum ran 24.96 to win the open 200m and move into a tie with Magali Schneider, who ran her time at the 1997 Jayhawk Invitational, for fourth all-time at ESU.

Connor Deters and
Zach Sulzen-Watson provided two provisional qualifiers for the Emporia State men. Deters moved into fourth all-time at ESU with a mark of 17.61m (57-09.50) to finish second in the shot put. Sulzen-Watson went 16.51m (54-02.00) to finish sixth in the shot.

Ezekiel Seamster had provisional times in both the prelims and finals of the men's 60m. He ran 6.78 for the second fastest time in the prelims and then turned in a 6.82 in the finals to finish in fifth place.

Emmanuel Dukpe had a provisional qualifier of 48.21 to place fourth in the invitational 400m.

The Hornets ended the day with another provisional qualifier as the foursome of

Israel Domeh,
Andrew Holton,
Emmanuel Dukpe ran 3:14.03 to finish second in the men's 4x400m relay.

Emporia State will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. to take part in the Gorilla Classic. Competition runs on Friday and Saturday, February 13 and 14 at the Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State.
