February 6, 2026-In a limited number of events Emporia State came away with a provisional qualifier and two top three finishes on day one of the Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Mo.
 
Isabella Davie hit her second provisional qualifying mark of the season with a total of 3406 points in the women's pentathlon. She ran 2:18.70 to finish second in the 800m and move up three spots in the final event.
 
Mia Manley tied her career best indoor mark of 3.57m (11-08.50) to place second in the women's pole vault.
 
Scarlett Begley had a career best total of 3192 to place sixth in the pentathlon.
 
After four events of the men's heptathlon Luke Grace is in second place overall headed into the final three events on Saturday. He started out with a fourth place finish in the 60m but placed second in the long jump to move into second place overall. He maintained that spot in the standings for the rest of day one.
 
The Bearcat Invite will wrap up on Saturday at Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Mo.  Action starts with the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles at 9:00 a.m.
