Three Point Scorers For Emporia State on Friday at MIAA Indoor Championships

Hornets get three provisional qualifiers and a top five mark in pentathlon

February 27, 2026-The Emporia State women started the MIAA Championships with three provisional qualifiers, three point scorers and a top five all-time mark in the pentathlon.  The Hornet men have two athletes in the top eight after the first four events of the heptathlon in Pittsburg, Kan.
 
Isabella Davie had the third best pentathlon score in Emporia State history as she scored 3,638 points to place fifth.  She was able to move up four spots in the overall standings thanks to running a 2:17.07 to finish second in the 800m, the tenth best time in Emporia State history in the event.
 
Lou Dumas had a personal best and provisional qualifier of 3,428 points to place seventh overall. Her best placing was a third place showing with a mark of 11.29m (37-00.50) in the shot put. She is now ranked seventh on the Emporia State indoor list in the event.
 
Scarlett Begley hit the provisional qualifying mark with a personal best of 3,378 points to round out the Hornets scoring.  She went 5.62m (18-05.25) to place third in the long jump portion of the competition for her best mark. She moved into eighth on the Hornets all-time list in the pentathlon.

After one event the Hornet women are in third place in the team standings with seven points.
 
After day one Luke Grace is in second place with 3,023 points in the heptathlon.  He won the high jump by clearing 2.03m (6-08.00) and went 6.94m (22-09.25) to place second in the long jump. Luke Hampl is currently in eighth place with 2,458 points while John Henry is in ninth with 2,183 points.
 
The heptathletes will be back in action on Saturday morning starting at 11:30 a.m. with the rest of the running and field events slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan.
