December 6, 2025-Emporia State had an event champion, a school record, six runner-up finishes, and ten provisional qualifiers at the Washburn Alumni Invitational on Saturday in Topeka, Kan.

WOMEN'S RECORDS, PROVISIONALS AND TOP FINISHES
After sitting out most of last year following a surgery
Mele Taula came up with and event championship, a runner-up finish and two provisional qualifiers for the Hornet women. She won the weight throw with a provisional qualifier and meet record of 17.48m (57-04.25) while finishing second with a provisional mark of 13.75m (45-01.50) in the shot put. Her mark in the weight throw is less than three inches from her own mark of 57-7 that ranks second all-time at Emporia State.

Stella Agbokpah turned in top two performances in two events for the Hornets, both of them provisional qualifiers. She set a school record with a time of 24.43 to finish second in the 200m and ran the second best 60m in 7.63 to finish sixth in the 60m. She broke Shannon Butler's school record of 24.81 in the 200m that was set at the 2006 NCAA Championships.
Lou Dumas moved into the top five all-time at Emporia State in the 60m hurdles. She ran 8.84 to place second in Topeka and rank fifth all-time for the Hornets.

Brooke Nolte had the other runner-up finish for the Emporia State women as she ran 19:10.37 to place second in the 5000m.

MEN'S RECORDS, PROVISIONALS AND TOP FINISHES
Senior
Zach Sulzen-Watson led a 1-2 finish for the Emporia State men in the shot put. He had a mark of 16.68m (54-08.75) to win the shot while
Connor Deters went 16.48m (54-01.00) to place second. Both of them were provisional qualifiers.

Ezekiel Seamster had a pair of provisional qualifiers that are ranked in the top five all-time at Emporia State. He rank 6.75 in the prelims of the 60m and was joined in the finals by
Ty Anderson who ran 6.81 as both of them hit the provisional qualifying mark. Seamster would run another provisional of 6.80 to finish fourth in the finals..

Seamster led two Hornets with provisionals in the 200m as well. He ran 21.48 to place fifth while
Israel Domeh ran 21.55 to place tenth. Seamster is now ranked fifth all-time at Emporia State in both the 60m and 200m.

Cooper Schroer placed second with a time of 1:55.51 in the men's 800m.

UP NEXT
Emporia State will send their multi-event athletes to Colorado next weekend to take part in the CRC Pre-Holiday Invite. The competition will be held on December 12-13 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
