Emporia State women put two in top six of pentathlon

December 12, 2025-Emporia State came away with two NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifiers on day one of the Colorado Running Club Pre-Holiday Multis in Colorado Springs, Colo.
 
Isabella Davie and Lou Dumas each placed in the top six with provisional marks in the women's pentathlon.  Davie finished fourth with a provisional mark of 3,411 points while Dumas had a provisional total of 3,315 points to place sixth overall.   Davie used a strong final event to move up four places into fourth place.  She ran 2:29.07 to place third in the 800m.  Dumas started out strong winning the 60m hurdles in 8.88 and was in second for most of the competition before running 2:57.97 in the 800 to drop down to sixth place.
 
Ava Markley was tenth with 3048 points while Scarlett Begley finished in 11th place with 3039 points. Markley's best individual event was the 800m as she ran 2:32.36 to finish in fourth place.  Begley was second in the women's high jump, clearing 1.61m (5-3.25) to finish second.
 
Luke Grace is in second place after day one of the men's heptathlon competition. He has 3021 points and is just 69 points out of first with three events to go.  He was strong in the jumps, winning the high jump with a mark of 2.00m (6-6.75)  and going 7.13m (23-4.75) to place second in the long jump. Luke Hampl is in 13th place with 2428 points while John Henry is in 17th place with 2099 points.  Jonah Remsberg did not get a mark in the long jump and pulled out of the competition.
 
The Hornet men will wrap up day two of the heptathlon on Saturday at Mountain Lion Fieldhouse on the campus of UC-Colorado Springs.
