Emporia State begins a 12 game season ending home stand with their annual AFE Game to raise awareness of amniotic fluid embolisms.
LAST AT BAT
Emporia State broke out the bats in a double header split at Fort Hays State on Saturday afternoon. The fell 7-6 in the opener before posting an 8-0 win in the nightcap.
Maddy Broxterman went two for two with a home run, two walks, three RBI and two runs scored while
Abbey Ward was two for three with two runs scored in the first game.
Gracie Rabe scattered six hits over seven innings with three strikeouts and four walks for her first career shutout in the nightcap. Broxterman was two for four with two RBI while
Brittanie Shepherd was three for four with a run and an RBI in game two.
THE COACHES
April Rosales is 170-169 in her seventh year as the head coach at Emporia State. She has taken the Hornets to two MIAA Championship games and the 2018 NCAA Central Sub-Regional Championship game. She was as an assistant coach for ESU for seven seasons and a member of the Hornets national runner-up teams in 2006 and 2008. She is 2-2 against Rockhurst.
Heidi Jordan is 15-21 in her first year at Rockhurst after going 576-234 in 17 years at Highland CC. This is her first meeting with ESU.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets are 20-20, 9-7 in the MIAA. Nine of their losses have been by one run with five coming in their opponents last at bat. They lead the MIAA and are ranked 16th nationally in total stolen bases with
Lexi Williams leading the league with 23.
Roni Raines has been hit by a pitch a league high 14 times to rank fourth in the nation.

Rockhurst is 15-21, 9-11 in the GLVC. They are 3-7 against the MIAA this season. Calli Wibbenmeyer is batting .383 with ten home runs and 36 RBI while Maya Gallagher is hitting .342 with ten homers and 31 RBI. Anna Newcomer is 6-10 with a 4.05 ERA in the circle.
SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets lead the series 7-2 with both Rockhurst wins coming last season.
LAST MEETING
Emporia State was swept 13-2 and 3-0 by Rockhurst in Kansas City. Rockhurst sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and scored nine runs to take control early in the matinee. The Hornets were held to just one hit in the second game as Rockhurst completed the sweep with a shutout in the nightcap.

She has team-highs of 33 runs, 24 RBI, 14 doubles and two triples. She is ranked third in the MIAA in total doubles and fifth in total hits.

Alexis Dial (So./Topeka, KS) is batting .317 with 26 runs scored, ten doubles and 17 RBI. She has also swiped 20 bases in 25 attempts. She is second in the MIAA in stolen bases and seventh in doubles.
