A Total of 13 Emporia State Softball Returners Earn MIAA Academic Honors

June 11, 2026 – Avery Brewer and Brynley Smith were named MIAA Scholar Athletes, to highlight a total of 13 Emporia State softball players that were recognized by the conference for the academic accomplishments.

Brewer was named honorable mention All-MIAA at first base after hitting .321 with nine home runs and 37 RBI in the regular season.  Smith was an honorable mention All-MIAA pick at second base after hitting .310 with five doubles, five home runs and 21 runs scored in the regular season.

A Scholar-Athlete must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution. Student-athletes must also receive All-MIAA honors in the 2026 season to achieve the full Scholar-Athlete status. 

A total of 13 returners were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for Emporia State.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
These academic awards do not include first-year freshmen or first-year transfers. The MIAA will release its Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2025-26 academic year later this month.
