June 2, 2026- Emporia State national champion triple jumper Josh Honeycutt and National Softball Player of the Year Miranda Campbell were formally inducted into the MIAA Hall of Fame on Monday night as part of the MIAA Awards Celebration Ceremony presented by Seigfreid Bingham on Monday, June 1, at the Nelson-Atkins Museum Auditorium in Kansas City. Blair Kerkhoff returned as the event's emcee for the tenth consecutive year. The evening began with brief remarks from MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy, followed by the presentation of multiple individual and institutional awards on stage.

Campbell was a three-time All-American for the Hornet softball program. She was the National Player of the Year as a senior in 2010 when she hit .490 with 14 home runs, 69 RBI with a .903 slugging percentage and .627 on base percentage, thanks to 59 walks, which included 14 intentional passes. Campbell earned second-team All-American honors as a sophomore and third-team honors as a junior. She was a career .410 hitter with 45 home runs, 204 RBI, 196 runs and 269 hits to rank in the top ten of the MIAA in each of those categories. She graduated as the NCAA Division II career record holder for walks and is currently ranked ninth with 160 walks in 243 games played, while her 20 career intentional walks still rank second in Division II history. Campbell led the Hornets to the NCAA Tournament all four seasons, including a trip to the 2008 National Championship game. She was also honored as an NFCA Scholar-Athlete, a MIAA Scholar-Athlete, and spent all four seasons as a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. The former Hornet was inducted into Emporia State University's Athletics Hall of Honor in 2021.

Honeycutt was crowned the individual national champion of the men's triple jump at the 2009 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships. He was also the national runner-up at the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. He still holds the Emporia State school records in the triple jump with an indoor record of 51 feet, 10 inches and an outdoor record of 53 feet, 9.25 inches. The Iola, Kan. native was also a part of the Hornets' fourth-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships — the highest team finish in school's Division II era. Honeycutt captured seven of the eight possible MIAA Championship titles in the men's triple jump, winning four straight outdoor championships and three of four indoor championships. He was also a three-time MIAA champion in the men's long jump, winning the event at two outdoor championships and one indoor. In total, Honeycutt was a seven-time NCAA Division II All-American and an 11-time MIAA champion. He continued competing after graduation and went on to win the men's triple jump at the 2013 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Honeycutt was inducted into Emporia State University's Athletics Hall of Honor in 2022.
Emporia State's two student-athletes were the most by a conference school inducted into the MIAA Hall of Fame this year. Campbell and Honeycutt bring the number of Hornets in the MIAA Hall of Fame to 13 individuals and two teams.

The Emporia State Male Student-Athlete of the Year, Boss earned First-Team All-American honors from the AFCA, D2CCA, AP, Don Hansen Football Committee, and Walter Camp Football Foundation and was named Second-Team All-American by D2Football.com. Boss was a unanimous selection as a First-Team All-MIAA linebacker, while also winning the Defensive Player of the Year award in the Association. The Osage City, Kan. native led the MIAA in sacks and tackles for loss while ranking second in the league in solo tackles and fourth in total tackles. His 69 solo tackles were the fifth most in the nation, his 17.5 tackles for loss ranked sixth in the nation while his ten sacks were 12th in the nation.
In the classroom Boss was a First-Team Academic All-American for the Hornets with a 3.72 GPA in business. He has a 3.72 GPA in business and will be recognized as an MIAA Scholar-Athlete and member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
In the community Boss has helped out the youth in his hometown of Osage City by running sports clinics and taking youth on guided turkey hunts in the area. He has led several High Five Fridays with the Hornet football team at various Emporia elementary schools. He volunteered to run bouncy house for kids at the annual Smoke in the Spring BBQ festival in Osage City. He has stocked shelves at Corky's Cupboard and unloaded food at a community food pantry. He has also raked leaves and shoveled snow for senior citizens.
This is the sixth straight year Emporia State has had a finalist for the Ken B. Jones Award, the second longest active streak in the Association.
