April 15, 2021-Aren Trost finished second in the decathlon and Clara Eilert placed fifth in the heptathlon at the KT Woodman Multis on Thursday in Wichita, Kan.
 
Eilert had a solid second day, finishing in the top nine in all three events on Friday. She ended up in fifth place with a career high 4,373 points. She had personal bests in the final two events of the competition, throwing the javelin 89-8 (27.35m) and running 2:33.63 in the 800m.
 
Audrey Phelps finished in ninth place overall with 4,036 points. She went over 100 feet in her first collegiate javelin competition, throwin 101-7 (30.96m) to place fifth in that event and ran a personal best of 2:35.60 in the 800m.
 
Victoria Pettay improved by three spots in the standings on the second day as she finished in tenth place with 3,911 points.  She had a personal best of 16-08 (5.08m) in the long jump and ran 2:33.20 to finish fourth in the 800mportion of the heptathlon.
 
Kynzie Underwood finished 14^th with 3696 points, Grace Jacobs has 3,252 points to place 16^th, Mary Beth Lassiter was 17^th with 3,205 points while Makenzie Owings finished with 2,907 points to place 19^th.  Owings had the second fastest time in the 800m at 2:29.77 but a no height in the high jump on day one kept her from finishing higher.
 
Trost finished second in the decathlon with 6,062 points.  He started day two with a personal best of 15.68 in the 110m hurdles and then threw 94-6 (28.82m) in his first collegiate discus competition. He matched his career best by clearing 13-01.5 (4.00m) to win the pole vault competition and then had the best mark in the javelin at 145-1 (44.23m) in his first time throwing it collegiately.  He finished the two day, ten event competition with a time of 5:06.54 in the 1500m.
 
The next action for Emporia State will be on Saturday when the Hornets play host to the Midwest Classic on Witten Track at Welch Stadium. A total of 14 schools are expected to be represented including MIAA foes Fort Hays State, Missouri Western and Rogers State.
