Brooke Flewelling was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week on Tuesday after hitting .667 with a 2.515 OPS and three homers last week.
Emporia State went 14-7 through nonconference play, with five of their seven losses by just one run.

Emporia State will play games in locations that are 350 miles apart this weekend as they take on Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla. on Friday then travel to Warrensburg, Mo. on Sunday to play at Central Missouri.
LAST TIME OUT
Emporia State split their double header at Fort Hay State on Saturday.
In a battle of big innings, the Hornets put up 11 runs in the fifth on their way to a 15-7 run rule win in the matinee at Fort Hays State.
Ally Miller went three for four with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored while
Brooke Flewelling was two for three with a homer, a triple, three RBI and two runs. Every Emporia State offensive player either scored a run or had an RBI in the game.
Chloe Wilson tossed 2.1 innings in relief for the win, allowing just one run on two hits.
Emporia State had just five hits as they fell 8-3 to Fort Hays State in the nightcap.
Taryn Burkhardt was two for three with a double, triple, RBI and run scored while Flewelling had a double, three walks, an RBI and a run scored.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 22-13, 8-6 in the MIAA and are 2-4 against Association teams ranked in the top 20 at the time they played. The Hornets are leading the MIAA and are ranked tenth in the nation in triples while ranking fourth in the conference in batting average, slugging percentage and home runs per game.
Brooke Flewelling is leading the MIAA and ranked seventh in the nation with 14 homers and leads the league with a .853 slugging percentage.
Taryn Burkhardt is leading the MIAA and is ranked 20th in the nation in stolen base percentage with 25 thefts in 26 attempts.

Central Oklahoma is 32-9, 9-3 in the MIAA and ranked #18 in the latest NFCA National Poll. They lead the nation in doubles and are fifth nationally in RBI. Jenna Jobe is third in the nation with 19 doubles on the sesaon while Rylee Lemos is seventh in the nation in runs scored and leads the MIAA in triples. In the circle Shelby Beard leads the MIAA and is ranked sixth in the nation in starts and is 12th in victories. Carleigh Kinnaird is second in the MIAA in strikeouts.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bronchos lead the all-time series 42-28 and have won 11 straight in the series. The two have met six times in NCAA Tournament play with each team winning three games. The Hornets won 4-3 in the 2006 World Series in Salem, Va. before the Bronchos took two of three in Edmond, Okla. during the 2012 Regional and the split two games in the 2014 Regional in Mankato, Minn. with ESU eliminating UCO 13-2 in five innings to advance to the regional title game.
SCOUTING THE JENNIES
Central Missouri is 28-12, 11-5 in the MIAA and have won seven straight games. They lead the MIAA and are ranked ninth in the nation in home runs with 42 on the season. Marissa Johnson and Taylor Thompson each have 12 homers to rank second in the MIAA. Riley Bebb leads the MIAA in walks allowed per seven innings and is second in the Association in strikeout to walk ratio.
SERIES HISTORY
The Hornets lead the all-time series 66-51 with the road team winning the last ten games. Prior to the current streak, the home team had won 13 straight in the series.

Megan Hill is 22-13 in her first season as the head coach for Emporia State. She joined the coaching staff in 2024,and went 30-15 to close out that season as acting coach while
April Rosales was on maternity leave. She was 0-3 against both Central Oklahoma went 2-0 against Central Oklahoma that year.
Sam Maples is 32-9 in her first season at Central Oklahoma and 202-126 in her seventh season overall. She was 2-0 against Emporia State while at Oklahoma Baptist.
Susan Anderson is 586-437 in her 20th season at Central Missouri and 767-609 in her 28th year overall. She is 14-31 against the Hornets.
IN THE CIRCLE
Hannah Butterbaugh (Fr./Lenexa, Kan.) has made an immediate impact to the Hornet pitching staff in her freshman campaign. She is 10-4 with a 1.60 ERA that is leading the MIAA and 28th in the nation.
Izzy Sloan (Jr./Indianola, IA) has become a staple in relief this season, as 17 of her 22 appearances have come in relief. She is 1-2 with a 3.50 ERA and her three saves are fourth in the MIAA and 15th in the nation.
Chloe Wilson (So./Kingwood, Texas) has a 3.85 ERA in 17 appearances with five starts and holds a 4-3 record. She has given up just 12 walks in 40.0 innings pitched.
Morgan Tomlinson (Jr./Harveyville, Kan.) is 5-2 with a 4.65 ERA. She is second in the MIAA with 1.12 walks allowed per seven innings.

First baseman
Avery Brewer (Jr./Jenks, Okla.) has started 33 games and is hitting .337 with six home runs and 28 RBI this season. She delivered the walk-off home run in the eighth inning of game one against #18 Rogers State.
Second baseman
Brynley Smith (So./Wichita, Kan.) has made 23 starts in 26 games played. She is hitting .338 with four home runs, including a three-run home run against Augustana. Smith has 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and has been hit by pitch at team high six times.
Shortstop
Sydney Wagner (So./Buda, Texas) has started all 35 games and holds a .276 average. She has scored 23 runs, drawn 11 walks and is reaching base at a .339 clip. Wagner matched her career-high with three RBI in game two against Drury.
Third baseman
Brooke Flewelling (Jr./Holton, Kan.) is leading the MIAA and ranks seventh in the nation with 14 home runs while her .853 slugging percentage leads the MIAA and her 99 total bases are second in the conference. She is ranked third on the Emporia State single season home run list and needs three to tie Miranda Campbell (17 HR in 2008) for second. Her 29 career homers are tied for fourth on the Hornet career list.
Karli Wehunt (Jr./Shidler, Okla.) has made 12 starts at second base and is hitting .262 this season with two doubles, one home run, five RBI and six runs scored.
Mallory Moore (So./Flower Mound, Texas) has 12 starts this season and is hitting .256 while reaching base in 17 of 49 plate appearances for a .347 OBP.
OUT IN THE FIELD
Elina Bartlett (Jr./Cheney, Kan.) has made 29 starts in her first season with the Hornets after transferring from Barton CC. She has a .416 OBP while driving in 18 runs and scoring 15 of her own. Bartlett has eight multi-hit games this season including a three for four effort at Neb.-Kearney.
Taryn Burkhardt (Sr./Silver Lake, Kan.) leads the MIAA in stolen base percentage with 25 steals in 26 attempts. She is sixth in the MIAA in stolen bases and triples. Burkhardt has six multi-steal games this season including two games with three stolen bases.
Kinsey Perine (So./Rossville, Kan.) is hitting .292 with a .330 OBP this season while starting 31 games in right field. She has four triples this season to rank third in the MIAA and 35th in the nation.
Juliana De Luna (Jr./San Antonio, Texas) is in her third year with the Hornets and made nine starts. She has a .367 OBP with six walks in 30 plate appearances and has scored a five runs with two steals and five RBI.
HORNET HISTORY
Emporia State has qualified for NCAA Regional play 13 times and finished as the NCAA Division II National Runners-up in 2006 and 2008. ESU won the NAIA National Championship in 1983 and 1984 and won the AIAW National Championship in 1980.
The Hornets were MIAA regular season champions four straight years from 2005-08 and MIAA Tournament champions seven straight years running from 2004-10. In the 21st Century, Emporia State has claimed the regular season title eight times (2005-08, 2010-12, 2014) and the tournament title nine times (2004-10, 2012, 2018).
