March 13, 2026-Emporia State had two competitors on Friday at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia, Va.

Luke Grace is in eighth place after day one of the heptathlon. He started out with a 7.22 in the 60m before turning in his best finish of the day in the long jump. He went 7.06m (23-02) for the second best mark in that portion of the competition. He then had a career best 11.64m (38-02.25) in the shot put. He cleared 1.88m (6-02) in the high jump to move into eighth place with 2915 points after four events.

Stella Agbokpah ran the second fastest time in Emporia State history in the women's 200m but just missed a spot in the finals. She turned in a 23.88 and finished second in her heat but missed the cutoff for the finals by .03 seconds. With her ninth place finish she will earn second-team All-American honors.

The Hornets will wrap up their stay in Virginia Beach on Saturday with
Isabella Davie in the women's pentathlon, the final day of competition in the men's heptathlon for Grace and
Connor Deters in the men's shot put.
