May 23, 2026-For the first time since 2023 both the Emporia State men and women scored at the MCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hornets came away from Saturday with three All-American finishes as the men finished 36
th in the nation and the women were 43
rd nationally.

Brooks Lowe got things started for the Hornets with a seventh place finish in the men's javelin to earn first-team All-American honors. He was in 12
th place heading into his final throw of the prelims when went 69.01m to secure his spot in the finals. He would finish in seventh place.
Grayson Walburn finished 16
th with a throw of 61.41m (201-5) in his freshman season.

Connor Deters became just the fourth Hornet male to go over 60 feet in the shot put and earned All-American honors. He had three straight personal bests in the shot put capped by a toss of 18.42m (60-5.25) on his fifth attempt as he finished sixth in the nation.

The women's action was capped by
Stella Agbokpah finishing fourth with a time of 23.62 in the 200m. Â

NOTES
There were eight facility records, two Division II meet records and one all-time Division II record set on Saturday.
Dailynn VanDeren set the facility record with a throw of 16.93m (55-6.50) in the
women's shot put. She broke Erika Beistle of Grand Valley State's Welch Stadium record of 16.82m (55-02.25) set at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
The Carson-Newman team of Taylor Madison, Amine Kasmi, Favour Ekpekpe, and Rylan Jordan ran 39.30 in the
men's 4x100m relay  and broke the Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track record of 39.42 set by West Texas A&M's Lynch, Jakpa, Lauzon, and Botsio) at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Tusculum's Qitarah Castlin, Shanice Cox, Kori Moore, and Jahzara Hart ran 44.05 in the
women's 4x100m relay to break their own facility record of 44.15 set on Thursday.
William Opare of Angelo State ran 44.95 in the
men's 400m to break Joshua Page of Tiffin's facility mark of 45.71 set at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Josue LeCadre of Indianapolis ran 1:46.02 to set the
men's 800m facility record set by Neb.-Kearney's Wes Ferguson at 1:47.84 during the 2024 NCAA Championships.
West Texas A&M's Emiliia Tangara set the Welch Stadium record in the
women's 400m hurdles with at a time of 56.56 to break Lynnsey Dailey of Fort Valley State's mark of 57.18 set during the 2006 NCAA Championships.
Grace Strongman from Colorado School of Mines ran 16:02.06 in the
women's 5000m to break Florence Uwajeneza of West Texas A&M's previous facility mark of 16:33.00 set at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
The Angelo State
men's 4x400m relay team of Taylor Briggs, Jahleel Armstrong, Rami Balti and William Opare ran 3:04.46 to break the Zola Witten Track record of 3:06.00 by Pittsburg State's Woyn Chatman, Nate Watson, Logan Davis, and Caden Williams on Friday night in the prelims.
Eight time national champion Vlad Malykhin of Harding broke the NCAA Division II meet record by clearing 5.56m (18-03) in the
men's pole vault. He broke Dale Jenkins meet record of 5.54m (18-02) set at the 1984 Championships.
The West Texas
women's 4x400m relay team of Sandra Appiah, Emiliia Tangara, Abigail Abugire, and Blessing Akintoye wrapped up the meet by breaking the facility, meet and all-time D2 record and giving the Buffs the team national title by 0.8 points over Pittsburg State. West Texas ran 3:32.18 to break the Welch Stadium record of 3:32.88 set by Angelo State's McDaniel, Kabo, Frush, and Findley at the 2024 NCAA Championships as well as the meet record and all-time Division II mark of 3:32.31 set by Monique Robinson, Davita Prendergast, Meleshia Spencer, and Carla Thomas of Lincoln at the 2007 NCAA Championships.
