47 Hornets Earn MIAA Academic Honors in Outdoor Track & Field

Six Hornets earn MIAA Scholar-Athlete Recognition

June 10, 2026 – Six Hornet track and field athletes were named MIAA Scholar Athletes, to highlight a total of 47 Hornets that were recognized by the conference for the academic accomplishments.

For the men Israel Domeh, Alden Mollerus and Braden Lipgens were named MIAA Scholar-Athletes after earning All-MIAA honors at the conference championships. They made up three legs of the third place 4x100m relay team that ran 40.40, the fifth best time in ESU history in the event. Domeh and Lipgens were also on the third place 4x400m relay that ran 3:08.77 for the third best mark in Hornet history. Domeh and Mollerus each earned the honor individually as Domeh placed second in 20.48 and Mollerus third in 20.86 in the 200m.
 
Barbara Bentum, Mason Bina, and Isabella Davie earned Scholar-Athlete honors for the women as members of the 4x400m relay team that ran 3:44.78 to place third at the MIAA Championships.

A Scholar-Athlete must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution. Student-athletes must also receive All-MIAA honors in the 2026 season to achieve the full Scholar-Athlete status. 
 
Bina and Davie along with Mia Manley earned the Academic Excellence Award for the women while John Henry picked it up for the men.
 
An Academic Excellence award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

A total of 28 men and 19 women were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for Emporia State.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
 
These academic awards do not include first-year freshmen or first-year transfers. The MIAA will release its Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2025-26 academic year later this month.
