TO THE BEACH  
Emporia State will send five athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.
  
LAST LAP
The Hornets combined for four All-MIAA performances, another school record, nine provisional qualifiers, and eight marks that are within the top five all-time at Emporia State on the final day at the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The ESU men placed seventh and the women eighth in the team standings.
Stella Agbokpah set another school record in the 60m and ran the second fastest time in the 200m behind her own school record.  She ran 7.54 to place third in the 60m and her 23.93 was good enough for second in the 200m. 
Barbara Bentum also had a pair of top five marks in Emporia State history.  Her time of 24.44 placed her in fourth in the 200m and is second only to Agbokpah in Emporia State history. She also placed eighth with a time of 56.02 in the 400m. That is the fourth fastest time in Emporia State history.
Agbokpah and Bentum teamed up with Mackenzie Sauerwein and Isabella Davie to run 3:55.92 and place seventh in the 4x400m.
Mason Bina picked up the other individual points for the Emporia State women on Sunday. She ran 2:17.35 to place eighth in the women's 800m.
Braden Lipgens, Alden Mollerus, Andrew Holton, and Emmanuel Dukpe closed the meet on a high noter for Emporia State as they ran a season's best 3:12.91 to place second in the men's 4x400m relay.  It is the sixth fastest time in ESU history indoors.
Ezekiel Seamster tied Josh Schuler for the second fastest 60m time in ESU history with a 6.71 to place fifth. He then earned All-MIAA status with a time of 21.29 to place third in the 200m. That is the fourth best time in Emporia State history in the event. 
Connor Deters had a season's best and provisional qualifier of 17.78m (58-04.00) to place fifth in the men's shot put.  It is the fourth best mark in the shot put in Emporia State history.
Dukpe ran a provisional qualifier of 47.62 to place seventh in the men's 400m for the final individual points for the Hornets on Sunday.

THE COACH
Seth Mischke is in his third year as the head coach for the Emporia State track and field programs. The Hornets have produced six MIAA individual champions and seven All-Americans in the first two years under his leadership. Before coming to Emporia State he spent one year at Chadron State. Eagle throwers earned five All-America awards and four RMAC Championships. Prior to Chadron State, Mischke spent 11 seasons as the head track and field coach at Black Hills State University. The Yellow Jackets produced two individual national champions, 18 All-America earners, 18 conference champions, and more than 100 All-RMAC honorees under his guidance. Mischke was the head coach at St. Cloud State for 12 years. During his tenure at SCSU, the Huskies had 44 All-Americans and one national champion.

WHO'S GOING TO NATIONALS
Freshman Stella Agbokpah has the top entry mark for Emporia State. She is ranked third in the nation in the 200m after 23.70 in the prelims at the MIAA Championships.  
Sophomore Isabella Davie is ranked 16th in the field of the pentathlon after scoring 3,638 points at the MIAA Championships.  
Senior Luke Grace scored 5,146 points at the MIAA Championships and is ranked 14th in the nation in the heptathlon. That is the fifth highest point total in Emporia State history. 
Junior Connor Deters is ranked 17th in the shot put with a mark of 17.78m (58-04.00) at the MIAA Championships. 
Senior Ezekiel Seamster was in a three-way tie for the final two spots in the 60m.  He qualified after running a 6.71 at the MIAA Championships.  

PROVISIONAL QUALIFIERS
The Hornets recorded 19 active NCAA Provisional qualifying marks this season.  Eight Emporia State men have nine individual qualifying marks in five events with three qualifying relays. Five Emporia State women have seven active qualifying marks in four events.

LAST TIME AT THE NCAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ty Anderson ran the tenth fastest time in the 60m and Jonah Remsberg is in 13th place in the heptathlon after day one for Emporia State at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.   
Remsberg started day one finishing ninth with a time of 7.26 in the 60m dash.  He moved into sixth place overall with a mark of 6.97m (22-10.50) in his only legal attempt in the long jump. He went 10.52m (34-6.25) in the shot put.  In the final event of the day, he cleared 1.80m (5-10.75) in the high jump. He came back the next day with three personal bests. Remsberg started the day with a personal best time of 8.43 in the 60m hurdles for a sixth place finish. He then cleared a personal record of 4.55m (14-11) in the pole vault to place fourth in that discipline. He wrapped up the competition with a personal best of 2:48.79 to finish eighth in the 1000m.  He ended the competition with 5,173 points and 11th place finish overall.
Anderson ran 6.72 and finished fourth in his heat and 11th overall in the 60m prelims. It is his second best time in the 60m behind his school record of 6.68 set at the MIAA Championships. His full time of 6.712 was actually .003 seconds faster than the last second place automatic qualifier.

HORNETS IN THE ESU ALL-TIME TOP FIVE INDOORS
A total of 18 current Hornets have a combined for 23 top five indoor marks in 16 events all-time at Emporia State.
Ty Anderson is the school record holder in the men's 60m at 6.68 at the 2025 MIAA Championships and fifth in the 200m with a 21.42 at the WU Open last year.
Ezekiel Seamster is second in the 60m and fourth in the 200m. He ran 6.71 in the 60m and 21.29 in the 200m at this year's MIAA Championships.
Jonah Remsberg is second in the men's heptathlon with 5265 points at the 2025 MIAA Championships.
Emmanuel Dukpe is second in the men's 400m with a 47.44 at last year's MIAA Championships.
Israel Domeh is third in the men's 200m at 21.26 at the 2025 MIAA Championships and fifth in the 400m with a 48.09 at last year's Bearcat Invitational.
Max Neeley is redshirting this season but is third in the men's pole vault after going 4.93m (16-02) at the Ichabod Invitational last year. 
Connor Deters is fourth in the men's shot put at 17.78m (58' 4") at this year's MIAA Championships.
Dylan Hunter is fourth in the men's 5000m after running 14:44.44 at the Washburn Open.
The 4x400m relay team of Bryson Turner, Israel Domeh, Braden Lipgens, and Emmanuel Dukpe is ranked fourth after running 3:12.36 at the 2025 MIAA Championships.
Cooper Schroer is fifth in the men's 800m at 1:52.54 at the 2025 MIAA Championships.
Luke Grace is fifth with 5146 points in the men's heptathlon at this year's MIAA Championships.
Stella Agbokpah set the school record in the women's 200m with a time of 23.70 at the and in the 60m with a time of 7.54 at the MIAA Championships this year.
Barbara Bentum moved into second in the women's 200m with a time of 24.44 and ran 56.02 to rank fourth in the women's 400m at this year's MIAA Championships.
At the MIAA Championships Isabella Davie scored 3638 points in the pentathlon to rank third all-time at Emporia State and then ran 1:25.02 in the 600 yards to rank fifth. 
Madison Vermetten is third in the women's weight throw with a mark of 17.41m (57-1.50) at last year's Ichabod Inviational.
Mia Manley cleared 3.63m (11-10.75) in the pole vault at the MIAA Championships to rank fifth all-time at ESU. 
Lou Dumas has the fifth best 60m hurdle time at 8.84 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.

TRACK TOWN USA - DIVISION II STYLE
Emporia State's Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track will host the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  It will be the fifth time that Welch Stadium has played host to the national championships.
Welch Stadium previously served as the host site for the National Championships in 1995, 1999, 2006, and 2024 with the first meet in 1995 bringing 450 student-athletes to Emporia. The 2026 meet is scheduled to bring 754 student-athletes, nearly 200 coaches and over 100 officials to the Flint Hills over the Memorial Day weekend.
The 2026 Championships are scheduled for May 21-23.
During championship week, the NCAA Committee will come to Emporia on Monday with the first practice time available on Tuesday.  Wednesday of championship week will see a variety of coaches and officials meetings before the actual competition begin on Thursday.  The meet will wrap up on Saturday evening.
After playing host to the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Emporia State was the site of the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Championships. It was the seventh time Welch Stadium has served as host of the conference championships since 1997.

UP NEXT
The Hornets will begin the 2026 outdoor season on Friday, March 27 with the ESU Spring Open at the Zola Witten Track in Welch Stadium.
