LAST LAP
For the third straight meet
Stella Agbokpah set a school record to highlight Emporia State's day at the Northwest Tune Up in Maryville, Mo. She had three of the Hornets five provisional qualifiers on the day.
Agbokpah became the first Hornet to run under 24 seconds in the 200m as she won the event in a time of 23.88 to break her previous mark of 24.06 set two weeks ago at the Bearcat Invite. It is a provisional qualifier that ranks fourth in the nation as of Thursday afternoon. She also had provisional marks in both the prelims and finals of the 60m. She ran 7.60 in the prelims and finished second with a time of 7.61 in the finals.
Barbara Bentum finished third in the women's 200m and her time of 24.82 ranks third on the Emporia State all-time list.
The Hornet men picked up a pair of provisional qualifiers in the 400m. Emannuel Dukpe ran 47.89 to finish second while
Braden Lipgens turned in a personal best 48.18 to place third.
THE COACH
Seth Mischke is in his third year as the head coach for the Emporia State track and field programs. The Hornets have produced six MIAA individual champions and seven All-Americans in the first two years under his leadership. Before coming to Emporia State he spent one year at Chadron State. Eagle throwers earned five All-America awards and four RMAC Championships. Prior to Chadron State, Mischke spent 11 seasons as the head track and field coach at Black Hills State University. The Yellow Jackets produced two individual national champions, 18 All-America earners, 18 conference champions, and more than 100 All-RMAC honorees under his guidance. Mischke was the head coach at St. Cloud State for 12 years. During his tenure at SCSU, the Huskies had 44 All-Americans and one national champion.
PROVISIONAL QUALIFIERS
The Hornets have recorded 15 active NCAA Provisional qualifying marks this season. Seven Emporia State men have nine individual qualifying marks in five events with two qualifying relays. Three Emporia State women have four active qualifying marks in three events.
IN THE MIAA
The Hornet men are currently ranked seventh in the MIAA according to the USTFCCCA Power Rankings while the Emporia State women are ranked eighth.
Emporia State has a top five mark in the MIAA in eight events from three different individual athletes and all four relays. The Hornets have a total of 21 top ten marks in the Association, 12 for the men and nine for the women.
Stella Agbokpah has the second best women's 200m at 23.88 at the Northwest Tune Up and ranks fifth in the 60m with a 7.57 at the Gorilla Classic.
Luke Grace scored a converted 5119 points in the UCCS Pre-Holiday to rank second in the men's heptathlon.
Ezekiel Seamster is third in the men's 200m at 21.48 at the Washburn Alumni Invitational.

LAST TIME AT THE MIAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Emporia State men finished fifth and the Hornet women 11th at the MIA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
On Firday
Isabella Davie had three personal bests out of the five events in the women's pentathlon for a provisional qualifying total of 3,470 points and fifth place finish. She won the 800m in a personal best of 2:17.98 and had a PR of 9.48 in the 60m hurdles on the track. Her other individual best was a mark of 10.47m (34-4.25) in the shot put. She cleared 1.49m (4-10.50) in the high jump and went 5.28m(17-4.00) to place seventh in both of the jumping events.
Isabel Vikoler also scored points for the Hornets, finishing in seventh place with a personal best of 3,125 points. She started the day with her best placing by running 9.25 in the 60m hurdles to finish fourth. She then tied her career best of 1.49m (4-10.75) in the high jump. She threw 8.38m (27-6.00) in the shot put and jumped 5.31m (17-5.75) in the long jump before finishing the competition with a time of 2:38.66 in the 800m.
Jonah Remsberg got things started for Emporia State on Saturday by winning the men's heptathlon. He was in third place to start the final day, but finished second in the 60m hurdles in 8.49 and was third in the pole vault at 4.48m to move into second before the final event. He won the 1000m in a time of 2:52.72 while the leader after six events Doug Brown of Pittsburg State ran 3:05.24 to place eighth in the race. Remsberg's provisional qualifying score of 5265 is the second best in Emporia State history behind
Payson Maydew's 5363 set at the 2015 MIAA Championships.
Luke Grace gave Emporia State another placer in the multi-event with a provisional score of 5135 that ranked fifth all-time at Emporia State.
Will Allen cleared a provisional qualifying bar of 2.04m (6-8.25) to place fifth in the high jump.
Ty Anderson had a provisional qualifier of 7.29m (23-11.00) to place sixth in the long jump.
Lillian Zeigler placed seventh after clearing 1.59m (5-2.50) in the high jump. The distance medley relay team of
Mason Bina,
Barbara Bentum,
Isabella Davie, and
Emma Bartholome ran 12:27.40 to place seventh.
On Sunday ConnorDeters became just the fourth Hornet male to go over 57 feet in the shot put. His mark of 17.38m (57-0.25) was good for third in the MIAA.
Antonio Cooper also placed in the shot put, going 15.77m (51-9.00) to place seventh.
Domeh ran a provisional qualifier of 21.32 in the men's 200m final to place third after running a 21.26 in the prelims. It is the third best time in Emporia State history and ranks 26th in the nation.
Emmanuel Dukpe placed fifth in the men's 400m with the second fastest time in Hornet history. His time of 47.44 is currently ranked 24th in the nation.
Domeh and Dukpe joined with
Isaac Tarango and
Braden Lipgens to run 3:12.36 to place fourth in the men's 4x400m relay with the fourth best mark in Emporia State history.
Ty Anderson placed eighth with a provisional qualifying time of 6.75 in the men's 60m finals. He set a school record in the prelims with a time of 6.68 that ranks 11th in the nation.
Max Neeley continued to clear 16 feet, hitting 4.88m (16-0.00) to place sixth in the men's pole vault.
Cooper Schroer turned in the fifth fastest time for the Hornets when he place sixth with a 1:52.54 in the men's 800m.
Lipgens ran 1:11.48 to place fourth in the 600 yard run.

The Hornets are ranked in the top 30 of four women's events and three men's events in the Division II Event Squad Rankings.

HORNETS IN THE ESU ALL-TIME TOP FIVE INDOORS
A total of 16 current Hornets have a combined for 21 top five marks in 12 events all-time at Emporia State indoors.
Ty Anderson is the school record holder in the men's 60m at 6.68 at the 2025 MIAA Championships and fourth in the 200m with a 21.42 at the WU Open last year.
Jonah Remsberg is second in the men's heptathlon with 5265 points at the 2025 MIAA Championships.
Emmanuel Dukpe is second in the men's 400m with a 47.44 at last year's MIAA Championships.
Israel Domeh is third in the men's 200m at 21.26 at the 2025 MIAA Championships and fifth in the 400m with a 48.09 at last year's Bearcat Invitational.
Max Neeley is redshirting this season but is third in the men's pole vault after going 4.93m (16-02) at the Ichabod Invitational last year.
Connor Deters is fourth in the men's shot put at 17.61m (57' 9.5) at this year's Bearcat Invite.
Dylan Hunter is fourth in the men's 5000m after running 14:44.44 at the Washburn Open.

HORNET RETURNING PROVISIONALS
Ty Anderson was ranked 11th in the nation in the 60m after running a school record 6.68 in the prelims at the MIAA Championships. He finished eighth in the finals with a time of 6.75 at the MIAA Championships. He placed tenth in the 60m at the 2025 Indoor Championships. He was also ranked 35th in the nation in the long jump with a mark of 7.29m (23-11) at the MIAA Championships and 40th nationally with a time of 21.42 in the 200m at the Washburn Open.
Jonah Remsberg was ranked tenth in the nation after winning the MIAA Championship in the heptathlon with 5,265 points. He is ranked second all-time at Emporia State in the heptathlon. He was also ranked 46th in the nation in the long jump with a mark of 7.23m (23-8.75) during his heptathlon in Colorado Springs.
Connor Deters was 20th in the nation with a mark of 17.38m (57-0.25) in the men's shot put at the Bearcat Invite.
Emmanuel Dukpe was 24th in the nation in the men's 400m after running 47.44 at the MIAA Championships.
Luke Grace scored a 5,135 points at the MIAA Championships heptathlon to rank 25th in the nation.
Israel Domeh ran 21.26 in the men's 200m at the MIAA Championships to rank 26th in the nation. He turned in a 48.09 at the Bearcat Invite to rank 61st in the nation in the men's 400m.
Max Neeley went 4.93m (16-2.00) at the Ichabod Invitational to rank 27th in the nation.
Trenden Collins cleared 2.04m (6-8.25) in the high jump at the Bearcat Invite while Will Allen cleared the same height at the MIAA Championships to both rank 38th nationally. Collins may end up redshirting the indoor season due to an injury suffered during football season.

Madison Vermetten threw 17.41m (57-1.50) in the weight throw at the Ichabod Invitational to rank 35th in the nation.
INJURY BUG
Heading into the MIAA Champinships, the Hornet men are without five athletes that are ranked on the Emporia State indoor individual event top five list or were provisional qualifiers a year ago.
Ty Anderson is the school record holder in the 60m and ranks fourth in the 200m and was a provisional qualifier in the long jump last season. He has a provisional mark in the 60m this season.
Jonah Remsberg is second in the heptathlon at Emporia State and placed 11th in the nation last year in the event. He was also a provisional qualifier in the long jump last indoor season.
Cooper Schroer is ranked fifth on the all-time list for Emporia State in the 800m.
Max Neeley is ranked third indoors in the pole vault for the Hornets. He is a planned redshirt this indoor season.
Trenden Collins had a provisional qualifier in the high jump last indoor season but has not competed this year due to an injury suffered in the first football game of the year.
For the women
Mele Taula, who is ranked second in the weight throw and third in the shot put at Emporia State and had provisional qualifiers in each event this year, has decided to retire from competition after sitting out last year following surgery.
TRACK TOWN USA - DIVISION II STYLE
Emporia State's Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track will host the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. It will be the fifth time that Welch Stadium has played host to the national championships.
Welch Stadium previously served as the host site for the National Championships in 1995, 1999, 2006, and 2024 with the first meet in 1995 bringing 450 student-athletes to Emporia. The 2026 meet is scheduled to bring 754 student-athletes, nearly 200 coaches and over 100 officials to the Flint Hills over the Memorial Day weekend.
The 2026 Championships are scheduled for May 21-23.
During championship week, the NCAA Committee will come to Emporia on Monday with the first practice time available on Tuesday. Wednesday of championship week will see a variety of coaches and officials meetings before the actual competition begin on Thursday. The meet will wrap up on Saturday evening.
After playing host to the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Emporia State was the site of the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Championships. It was the seventh time Welch Stadium has served as host of the conference championships since 1997.
UP NEXT
The Hornets that qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will travel to Virginia Beach, Va. on March 12-14. The 2026 outdoor season is set to begin on Friday, March 27 with the ESU Spring Open at the Zola Witten Track in Welch Stadium.
