February 23, 2026 – Following a standout weekend at the Washburn Invitational, Hannah Butterbaugh was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
 
Hannah Butterbaugh recorded a 0.38 ERA at the Washburn Invitational, allowing just one run in 18.2 innings of work, while recording 18 strikeouts. She opened the weekend pitching a complete game against Minnesota State while striking out nine and allowing one run on three hits. Butterbaugh had 6.2 shutout innings in relief on Saturday and capped off the weekend with 5.0 scoreless innings in the 11-0 win over Drury.
 
On the weekend, Butterbaugh allowed just nine hits and one extra-base hit as she improved her ERA on the season to 1.08. She has tallied 33 strikeouts to just eight walks in 45.1 innings to begin her Hornet career.
 
Emporia State softball's final nonconference tournament is slated for this weekend in Shawnee, Kan. for the Midwest Classic. The Hornets will open the weekend against Maryville on Friday, February 28 with first pitch scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
