August 21, 2025-Emporia State will rely on youth and newcomers in the middle this season.
Â
Mia Frisbie is a sophomore and the lone returner in the middle for the Hornets. She was credited with a career high ten blocks at Washburn and had a career best seven kills at Ark.-Fort Smith. She is a dynamic athlete with a powerful arm and is quick off the ground. She made significant progress last spring and should be a strong offensive presence for Emporia State.
Â
Brooklyn Weaver graduated high school early and enrolled at Emporia State in the spring of 2025. She earned All-Conference recognition all four seasons and also was named All-State in Arkansas for Rogers HS. A natural blocker with good instincts and with her length will be an offensive and defensive threat at the net.
Â
Keyshla Rivera is a transfer from Iowa Western CC. She had a career high 11 kills against Missouri State-West Plains and twice had five block matches. She was recruited to IWCC as a middle blocker but played on the right side for the Reivers. She is a low error player that will add good depth in both positions for Emporia State.
Â
The Hornets will open the regular season in San Diego, Calif. on Thursday, September 4 against Point Loma. The first home match is scheduled for Friday, September 26 against Missouri Western and will be the MIAA opener.

Middle Blocker Notes
