Emporia State Volleyball Rolls In Wichita

Hornets sweep NEwman for 12th straight win

October 2, 2025-Emporia State made quick work of Newman on Thursday night picking up a 3-0 win in Wichita.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets closed out every set strong to take the sweep.
The first set was tight through the first 34 points with three lead changes and six ties, the last one coming at 17-17.  Emporia State then scored nine of the final ten points to take a 25-18 win. Nyia Anderson was dominant with seven kills on .462 hitting in the opening set.
The Hornets jumped out toa 3-1 lead and never trailed in the second set.  Newman would eventually tie the set at 14 before a service error gave Emporia State the lead for good. Emma Klett would then score four straight on kills to force a Jet timeout. The Hornets ended the set on an 11-3 run on the way to a 25-17 win and 2-0 lead in the match.
Emporia State jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the third and led 6-2 when Newman used their best run of the night. The Jets scored six straight points to take an 8-6 lead before Klett ended the run with a kill. That started a 4-0 run that gave the Hornets the lead for good. Newman got within 21-20 and forced the first timeout of the match from the Hornets before ESU scored four straight to close out the match with a 25-20 win.
 
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emma Klett had a career high 19 kills on .389 hitting in her first start since September 13.  She was joined in double figures by Nyia Anderson with 11 kills on .360 hitting with 16 digs.  Boglarka Rady had a match high 17 digs while Brailee Bogle dished 21 assists and Delainee Dexter had 16 assists, ten digs and five kills. The Hornets had five total blocks with Keyshla Rivera and Mia Frisbie each recording a solo block and a block assist.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
The Hornets have now won 12 matches in a row and 13 straight sets.
The 14-2 start is the best record after 14 matches for Emporia State since 2010, the last time they opened MIAA play 3-0.
