May 23, 2025-Emporia State shattered a school record and recorded a top ten finish on Friday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the CSUP ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.

The men's 4x400m relay broke their own school record by over a second to qualify for the finals.  Bryson Turner led off with an unofficial 47.72 split followed by a 45.93 by Israel Domeh.  Braden Lipgens ran a 47.58 on the third leg before Emmanuel Dukpe cranked out a 45.18 final split for an Emporia State record 3:06.66 to advance to the finals.  They broke their own record of 3:07.89 set at the Loper Twilight. They have the sixth fastest time headed into the Saturday night's finals.
This will be the first time Emporia State has competed in the 4x400m finals since Brandon Rhone, Hayden Goodpaster, Parker Evans and Luke Stenzel finished sixth at the 2019 National Championships at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Jonah Remsberg had two more PRs in events on day two of the decathlon as he recorded a top ten finish. Remsberg started day two where he left off on day one with his fourth consecutive outdoor personal best as he ran 15.04 in the 11m hurdles.  He threw 26.87m (88-2) in the discus to snap his string of PRs. He came back with a solid effort in the pole vault as he cleared 4.50m (14-9) to place seventh in that event.  He unleashed a personal best of 58.89m (193-2) to win the javelin portion of the competition and move from 12th to ninth overall.  He ran his second fastest 1500m as a Hornet at 4:49.75 to finish fourth in the event. It was enough to maintain his ninth place position and earn second-team All-American honors with 6987 points.
Remsberg became the first Hornet to earn All-American honors in the decathlon since his coach Payson Maydew finished third with 7,222 points at the 2015 National Championships hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

Championship Saturday action will begin for the Hornets at 2:45 p.m. (MT) with Kole Manley and Brooks Lowe competing in the men's javelin.  Track action begins at 6:30 p.m. (MT) with Emmanuel Dukpe in the finals of the 400m followed by Ty Anderson in the men's 100m final at 6:50 p.m. (MT). The men's 4x400m relay team will wrap up the championships at 9:05 p.m.

NOTES:
Due to the threat of inclement weather in the Pueblo area, there is a chance that the schedule will be adjusted. A decision will be made by 11 a.m. (MT) on Saturday.
