April 2, 2025-Atlanta Krueger gave Emporia State its first individual national champion to highlight day one for the Hornets at the Collegiate Disc Golf National Championships in Rock Hill, S.C.
 
2025 Emporia State Women's Disc Golf Atlanta Krueger National ChampionKrueger was in second following the first round of competition after shooting -1 on the opening 18 holes.  Going into the nine hole final round she trailed Grace Wilson of Liberty by two strokes.  Krueger dropped two strokes behind after she bogeyed the first hole and Wilson got a birdie.  They flip-flopped on the second hole with Krueger getting the birdie and Wilson the bogey.  They both parred number three before Wilson went back up by three strokes with a birdie on the fourth hole. Krueger would then birdie the next four holes with Wilson only getting one birdie in that span.  They were tied at -5 going to the final hole that saw Wilson get a bogey and Krueger saved par to win the championship.
 
Madeline Joiner also made the finals for the Hornets and would finish in fifth place, shooting +3 over 27 holes.
 
Maya Ringgold just missed the cut for the finals by two strokes and finished in 20th place at +8. Emporia State's Rebekah Thompson was 36th at +14 while Grace Watson shot +16 to place 42nd overall. Avangelena Campbell rounded out the Hornets in the women's singles competition, finishing in 60th place.
 
Krueger and Joiner are in first place heading into the team competition as the only team at even par after singles.  Liberty's team of Wilson and Cami Lazo is in second at +1 with Clemson's duo of Missoury Wolff and Noelle Erb in third at +2.
 
In the men's DI competition Emporia State's Cade Kohlmeier shot -4 and is in a four way tie for third place after the first 18 holes to qualify for Thursday afternoon's Final 9.  Micah Tatro shot -1 and missed the cut for the Final 9 by one stroke.  Justin Farrell finished in 64th in the individual opening round after shooting +3 while TJ Reel shot +5 and finished 87th overall.
 
The Hornets D1 team is in second place heading into the next round of team competition, trailing defending national champion UNC-Charlotte by two strokes.
 
With 92 teams and 368 players in the DII men's field, the competition was divided into two pools on Wednesday with one pool playing singles and the other doubles. The Emporia State DII Black team's Grant Yoder is currently tied for 12th at +2 while Isaiah Esquivel is one stroke back and tied for 17th place.  Joshua Sterner is 35th at +5 with Caden Stucky in 74th at +8 in the individual competition.   The Hornets pool will play a team round on Thursday while the other pool competes individually. Emporia State is currently in 50th place with a combined score of +5.
 
Emporia State's club team is also competing in Rock Hill and are in 57th place in the DII competition after shooting a +8 combined score in Wednesday's individual round.
 
The National Championships continue on Thursday at various courses around Rock Hill, S.C.
