February 15, 2026-The nationally ranked Emporia State disc golf teams swept the competition at the MidAmerican Conference event held at Jones Park on Sunday.  The event was moved to the Jones East course due to heavy rains that made the Peter Pan Park Course unplayable.

The day began with singles competition and Emporia State's Jaden Rye eked past teammate and the #1 ranked player in the nation Carter Ahrens and Kansas State's Maximilian Gutierrez by two strokes in the D1 competition.  Rye started strong with birdies on the first four holes and was ten under after 13 holes. He would birdie the final three holes to hold off a late charge from Ahrens, who had an eagle and three birdies over the last five holes.

Like Rye in the D1 competition, Emporia State's Joshua Sterner started out strong on his way to the D2 singles championship.  He birdied the first three holes and was four under after five.  That was enough to hold off teammates Caden Stucky and Isaiah Esquivel.  Stucky would finish in second place at -8 thanks to a birdie on 18.  Esquivel birdied the final three holes to pull into a tie for third with Ethan Ko of Kansas State at seven under.

The women's competition ended up being an intrasquad affair with top ranked and defending national champion Atlanta Krueger shooting +4 to defeat teammate and tenth ranked Madeline Joiner by two strokes.  Joiner held a one stroke lead after 16 but she would double bogey 17 and Krueger birdied 18 to flip the scores.

The men's team competitions were not close as the foursome of Ahrens, Rye, TJ Reel and Micah Tatro birdied 17 of 18 holes to shoot -17 in the round and -25 for the tournament. That gave the second ranked Hornets a 12 stoke win over Kansas State.

The D2 men's team of Esquivel, Sterner, Stucky and Grant Yoder won the D2 competition by ten strokes over the Kansas State Silver team.  The top ranked D2 team combined to shoot -14 in the round, with eight straight birdies  to start the back nine, and finish at -22 for the tournament.

In women's play Krueger and Maya Ringgold shot even par in the round and finished +8 overall. That was good enough for a two stroke win over Joiner and Isabella Parker in the team standings.

The next scheduled action for Emporia State is another MidAmerican Conference Event on Saturday, February 28 in Lawrence, Kan.
