11 Personal Bests for Emporia State Multis on Day One in Texas

Both Hornet men and women post several personal bests on the day

April 10, 2025-Emporia State's four multi-event athletes combined for 11 personal bests on day one of the Joe Meaker Classic Multis hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
 
Scarlett Begley and Isabel Vikoler are sitting in seventh and eight place after the first four events of the women's heptathlon.   They both got off to good starts with Vikoler running just .01 off her career best to finish at 14.78 in the 100m hurdles. Begley recorded a PR with a time of 15.50 in the hurdles.  Begley then cleared 1.53m and Vikoler went over 1.47m in the high jump.  Begley had the better mark in the shot put, going 9.57m, but Vikoler's 9.13m was a personal best.  Both recorded PR's in the 200m with Begley getting clocked in 26.29 while Vikoler ran 26.44.
 
Luke Grace is in fifth place and Jonah Remsberg is in ninth after five events of the men's decathlon.  Both of them started strong with personal bests in the first two events.  Grace went 11.04 and Remsberg finished with an 11.18 in the 100m.  Remsberg was just two centimeters off of a provisional qualifier when he went 7.30m in the long jump while Grace jumped 7.22m. Grace threw 11.46m and Remsberg went 10.39m in the shot put, the only event that neither of them hit a PR in. Grace cleared 1.95 to match the best finish in the field for the high jump while Remsberg's mark of 1.86m tied his personal best in the event. Both finished the day clocking PRs in the 400m.  Grace ran 50.98 while Remsberg finished in 51.08 in the final event of the day.
 
The multi-eventers will finish their competition in Texas on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m.  The rest of the Hornet track team will be at Wichita State this weekend for the KT Woodman with the distance carnival starting at 5:50 p.m. while the men's shot and women's javelin will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Cessna Stadium.
