May 14, 2024-Emporia State will be competing in the most events at the National Championships since 2015 when the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships begin next week. A total of six Hornets will compete in seven events at their home venue of Welch Stadium and Witten Track on May 23-25.

There will be four men competing in four events while two women will represent Emporia State in three events.  The last time the Hornets competed in seven events (five for the men and two for the women) was the 2015 National Championships hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

All-American Travis Morrison is the top ranked Hornet entering the championships. He is ranked fifth in the nation in the shot put with a mark of 18.57m (60-11.25) set at the ESU Relays on March 28.  It is the third best men's shot put mark in Emporia State history. He is the only Hornet with NCAA Outdoor Championships experience in this group. This is his third trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a best finish of eighth place last year to earn All-American honors.  He was sixth at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships.

She finished tenth in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships this year.
