HORNETS HOST ESU CLASSIC
Emporia State is set for six games against NSIC opponents as they host the ESU Classic.
THE COACHES
April Rosales is 212-208 in her ninth season at Emporia State. She has taken the Hornets to two MIAA Championship with a win in the 2018 MIAA Championship. Coach Rosales will not be coaching this weekend due to doctor's orders regarding her pregnancy. Assistant Coach Megan Hill will coach in her absence and is 3-1 as interim coach this season.
Christy Warnock is 14-42 in her second season at Wayne State.
Bob Bartel is 531-442-1 in his 20th season at Concordia-St. Paul.
Amy Schmeckpeper is 2-2 in her first season at UMary.
Erin Bly is 3-3 in her first season at Sioux Falls.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-6 this season. The Hornets are led offensively by Alexis Dial who is batting .448 with 13 RBI. Lexi Williams is batting .433 following four consecutive multi-hit games. Bailey Flewelling and Abbey Ward are also hitting .364 and .355 for the Hornets. In the circle, Gracie Rabe has a 2.77 ERA across 17.2 innings pitched while Kelly Hipsher has a 0.55 ERA through 12.2 relief innings.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Wayne State is 1-3 this season and are coming off a 13-39 season in 2023. Jordyn Rochholz is batting .385 across 13 at-bats with a team-high two doubles and five RBI.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Concordia-St. Paul is 2-2 this season with both wins coming against the Hornets at the Mankato Dome Tournament. Rachel Novak is batting .462 with a double and three RBI while Danni Sharum is batting .444 with three RBI and four walks.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
UMary is 2-2 this season with and have three hitters with averages above .400. Janelle Bergmann is batting .538 with seven hits, two doubles and five RBI to lead the Marauders.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Sioux Falls is 3-3 this season following a 24-26 campaign in 2023. The Cougars are led offensively by Emma Barta and Hannah Fry who are batting .438 and .400 respectively. Fry is leading the team with eight hits and four RBI.
ON DECK
The Hornets will travel up the turnpike for non-conference action in the Washburn Tournament. Emporia State is slated for six games on Feb. 23-25 in Topeka, Kan.
