Emporia State travels to the Lone Star State for the Lubbock Christian Tournament to begin the 2023 season.
THE COACHES
April Rosales is 175-179 entering her eighth season at Emporia State. She has taken the Hornets to two MIAA Championship games with a win in the 2018 MIAA Championship.
Bailey Gaspar is 4-0 in her first season at Minot State.
Daren Hays is 490-158 entering his 14th season at Lubbock Christian.
Kaley Ness is 64-148 in her sixth season at Chadron State.
Samantha Mendez is 1-3 in her first season at UT-Permian Basin.
Dane Craig is 2-3 in his first season at ASU.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
The Hornets went 25-30 last season and earned a trip of the MIAA Tournament. Emporia State returns seven position players who started 30 or more games led by
Lexi Williams who had a .330 batting average and 884 OPS last season. In the circle, the Hornets return four pitchers, led by
Sydney Righi and
Gracie Rabe, who both had sub-3.00 ERA's last season.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
Minot State went 28-20 and 9-15 in NSIC action during the 2022 season and are 4-0 to begin this season.
ABOUT THE CHAPS
Lubbock Christian is 4-1 to begin the seaosn and went 39-12 and 23-7 in the LSC last season. They fell in three games to the #1 seed UT-Tyler Patriots in the South Central Region Tournament.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
Chadron State went 11-37 and 10-26 in RMAC play last season.
ABOUT THE FALCONS
Texas-Permian Basin is 1-3 to open the 2023 season and went 21-30 last season in the Lone Star Conference.
ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES
Adams State is 2-3 to begin the season after finishing the 2022 season 13-36 and 8-30 in the RMAC.
