June 1, 2022-Emporia State track and field had five student-athletes earn United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-American honors this year.
Holly Brockmeier earned First-Team All-American honors with her sixth place performance in the women's javelin. She threw a career best 45.75m (150-1) that ranks second all-time at Emporia State.
The quartet of
Guy Ramos,
Hayden Goodpaster,
Jack Watson and
Juwan Johnson were named Second-Team All-Americans by the USTCCCA by virtue of their tenth place finish in the 4x400m relay. They ran 3:12.82, their second fastest time of the year, and missed the finals by .56 seconds while improving their entry position by two spots.
Student-athletes earned First-Team USTFCCCA All-American honors by virtue of finishing among the top-eight in their respective events – including as a member of a relay team – at this past weekend's outdoor championship meet.
Second-team selections were given to those athletes who finished in spots Nos. 9-12 in individual events. Ninth and tenth-place relay teams also earned the distinction.
The Emporia State women placed 46th in the team standings out of 65 teams that scored and 95 schools that had an entry at the Championships. There are a total of 255 NCAA Division II schools that sponsor women's track and field. Emporia State has had either the men or women score in every NCAA Outdoor Championship meet since 1994, a span of 27 straight meets.
