                     May 23, 2022-A total of ten home matches highlights the 2022 Emporia State volleyball schedule. With this being a Fall Festival year for NCAA Division II the season will start in August.
The Hornets will open the season in St. Louis, Mo. with four matches at a tournament hosted by Missouri-St. Louis.  Emporia State will open the season on August 26 against the host Tritons that went 25-9 last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It is the first of nine matches against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season. The second match of the day will be against Saint Leo (Fla.) with Southern Arkansas and Missouri S&T on the schedule for August 27 in St. Louis, Mo.
Emporia State travels to the Oklahoma City metro area on Labor Day weekend for four matches.  They will play Southern Nazarene and tournament co-host Oklahoma Christian on Friday in Oklahoma City before heading to Edmond, Okla. on Saturday for matches against St. Mary's (Texas) and Southeastern Oklahoma.
The home opener is set for September 9 against Neb.-Kearney in the first match of a four game home stand that will include three matches against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago.  The Hornets will play Fort Hays State on September 10 in White Auditorium.  
The first round of the Turnpike Tussle will be on Tuesday, September 13 when 2021 national runner-up Washburn comes to White Auditorium.  Emporia State's opening home stand will wrap up with another NCAA Tournament team as Northwest Missouri makes the trip to White Auditorium on September 16.
The last non-conference match will be on September 20 against William Jewell in Liberty, Mo. That will be the start of a three state, six match road trip.
Defending MIAA champion Central Missouri and Missouri Western will be the opponents for a quick two game home stand on October 7 and 8 before going on the road for three more matches against NCAA Tournament teams.
The final home stand starts on October 21 against Newman with Central Oklahoma following on October 22.  Emporia State will open Homecoming Week against Missouri Southern on October 26 before hosting Senior Night on October 27 against Pittsburg State.
The regular season ends on November 4 and 5 at Missouri Western and Central Missouri.
The MIAA Tournament will feature the top eight teams in the league and will begin on November 8 at the site of the top four seeds.  The remaining four teams will go to the site of the highest remaining seed of the semifinals and championship on November 11 and 12.
